Why primary "baby" teeth are important

It is important to take care of baby teeth because they are crucial for:

  • Chewing
  • Speaking and speech development
  • Jaw development
  • Self-Esteem

Baby teeth are also placeholders for permanent teeth. If these permanent teeth develop in a mouth that is unhealthy, they are likely to become decayed as well.

The following presentation provides more information on the cause of early tooth decay, also known as early childhood caries, and what you can do to prevent it.
